Prosperity
Outside of our demands that people in positions of power use that influence for good, we actively create the opportunity to seize power and prosperity within marginalized and oppressed communities.
Education
Education is the means to influence change. We equip the community with tools to improve their lives and the lives of their neighbors, giving them a fundamental understanding of the systems and hurdles they must overcome. We educate allies about the realities of these systems and the work to be done.
Non-violence
We walk the talk. Our advocacy for non-violence extends to all parties: the oppressed and the oppressors.
Justice
We must center those who have suffered the most at the hands of unjust systems.
Respect
Respect is our central agreement: we must always show up respectfully for one another. It’s important to invite our audience into this as well, and call in behaviors that we don’t agree with.
Mission
We provide everyday people with a safe and effective way to protest. We use our platform to amplify the message of racial justice experts and promote the work of exceptional Black people.
We work to change people’s minds and hearts to make this country better for Black people. Because our country has given Black people a bad deal. And that, in turn, will help all people of the world thrive.
Goals
We are dedicated to bringing awareness to the people, creating reform to systems founded on inequitable and racist ideals, and demanding justice in a non-violent manner. We recognize the importance of multiple voices, multiple perspectives, and multiple causes that can lead to local or systemic changes. We choose to elevate Black voices and focus on systems that disparage the Black community. By supporting both policy and protest, RCJ advocates for our communities to play an active role in holding our legal structures accountable now and always!
About Us
Rose City Justice presents interesting, factual, and well-represented content, but the movement isn’t about the platform itself, but the leaders we promote and the people we mobilize. The movement sparked in 2020 has driven Portlanders to the streets night after night — we provide paths to solutions so that questions of how to solve injustices can be answered with practical, community-driven calls to action.
