Rose City Justice envisions mainstream acceptance and support of racial justice reform, with local lawmakers and community leaders collaborating with and listening to the communities affected by their decisions. As the city’s primary source for racial justice reform knowledge, we hope to become a platform for the experts to connect with voters, helping communities become active in civic matters not just in Portland, but on a national (and international) scale.

What are your goals?
To motivate and inspire everyday people to start (or join) a movement, which continues to shift the culture of activism toward inclusiveness.
What do you do? How are you different from other groups?
We came from a unique moment of mass mobilization. Our marches harnessed our rage after the murder of George Floyd and turned them into positive action. We have the unique opportunity and responsibility to mobilize non-violent protests for racial justice in Portland, OR.
How were you founded?
We were formed out of desperation, grief, and hope. Our founding members showed up in the streets of Portland after the murder of George Floyd without knowing each other in an effort to be heard. Through challenge after challenge we have persisted because the work is important and the goal is uncompromising.
What have you done to address previous controversy?
We answer all questions brought to us honestly. We respond to negativity with patience and composure. We have released our finances, and will do so again at the end of this fiscal year. We have reached out to our critics and anyone hurt in our movement, and we maintain an open offer for dialogue and restorative justice with all.
Do you have any party affiliations
No. Though some parties align much better with our priority of racial justice.
How can I get involved?
Check out the policies we support, contact your local representative and tell them how you feel about them. Show up for marches or fill out a volunteer form. Read “White Supremacy and Me” and actually do the exercises. Understand how just existing makes you complicit in the system that is actively oppressing people. We are always accepting donations and encourage you to get creative. There are a million ways to participate. What is your passion? How could you use that to uplift the Black community?
And fill out our volunteer form! You can find it on the ‘Get Involved’ page.
How are donations being used?
We are using the money to support the marches, digital content we are producing, and community popups. Funds go to videographers, graphic designers, supplies, rentals, overhead and content creators. We also fly speakers civil rights leaders out to Portland, for our events and for other events.
